Ledyard Historical Hike

Saturday, May 15 at 10 AM
Meet at Pfizer Field (210 Stoddard’s Wharf, Gales Ferry)

Join Ledyard Town Historian Kit Foster on an Avery history hike. Visit the adjacent Avery-Stoddard Cemetery, resting place of many prominent Ledyardites. A short walk up Avery Hill Rd. will pass the historic Avery homestead (built circa 1720 by William Morgan, Jr., the oldest house in Ledyard) to the Avalonia Avery Preserve, site of a historic sheep-dip pen and stone-hand basin. For walkers with energy to spare, the walk will conclude with a circumnavigation of the glacial kettle hole on Avery Hill Rd. Ext.

The Avalonia section has wet spots and will cross stepping stones on running streams, so please wear appropriate footwear. About 2 miles overall. Please register by clicking here.
